- Experience with coaching high school athletes
- Experience with aspects of cheer such as building team spirit, dance routines, cheers, tumbling, stunts and jumps.
- The skills to develop a positive rapport with students/athletes, parents and other coaches
- High ethical and professional standards
- The ability to motivate student/athletes and coaches
- NFHS Coaching certification, Spirit Safety certification, concussion, hear and steroid training and current First aid Certified....can be completed upon hiring.
Responsibilities
- Works with cheerleaders during practices and meets
- Holds organizational meeting for team prospects and encourages students to participate.
- Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development.
- Works with athletic director in scheduling facilities for practices and competitions
- Coaches and instructs cheerleaders, during events and practices to determine the needs for individual or team improvements.
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior and provides proper supervision of students at all times
- Monitors the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met
- Follows established procedures in the event of an injury
- Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards cheerleaders, officials and spectators
- Participates in special activities to included parent night, banquets, award nights and pep assemblies
- Follows rules and regulations as laid out in the OSAA handbook
