Qualifications prefered

• Experience with coaching high school athletes
• Experience with aspects of cheer such as building team spirit, dance routines, cheers, tumbling, stunts and jumps.
• The skills to develop a positive rapport with students/athletes, parents and other coaches
• High ethical and professional standards
• The ability to motivate student/athletes and coaches
• NFHS Coaching certification, Spirit Safety certification, concussion, hear and steroid training and current First aid Certified....can be completed upon hiring.

Responsibilities

• Works with cheerleaders during practices and meets
• Holds organizational meeting for team prospects and encourages students to participate. 
• Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development.
• Works with athletic director in scheduling facilities for practices and competitions
• Coaches and instructs cheerleaders, during events and practices to determine the needs for individual or team improvements.
• Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior and provides proper supervision of students at all times
• Monitors the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met
• Follows established procedures in the event of an injury
• Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards cheerleaders, officials and spectators
• Participates in special activities to included parent night, banquets, award nights and pep assemblies
• Follows rules and regulations as laid out in the OSAA handbook
